November 8, 2010 - On our way to Labuan

By: Arturo Valdez

5:21 PM - We slowly moved near the  coast to catch some signal and tried to get weather updates. Its gonna be a wet night for the flotilla on our way to Labuan. We're hoping that we'll not encounter more floating timbers tonight compared to our experience last night. Our worst fear of avoiding floating logs became a reality at midnight of Nov 7. The sea was awash with timber acting as 'obstacle course' in our route. In spite all the evasive maneuvers, we got hit by a few although it did not cause serious damaged. We cleared the logjam after 2hrs but we're wide eyed the rest of the night. Hope we can clear the area of Sibu, site of the biggest logpond before dark. Easier to avoid if one can see the floating debris. ETA Labuan 4pm Nov 9.
