Tough Day reaching Zambo (April 30, 2010)

By: Arturo Valdez

7:45 AM - 30 April 2010
Departed Olutanga with water as calm, like oil and hardly any ripple or wave. We opted to proceed to Vitaly Pt 31 NM away knowing we don't have wind to bring us across Sibugay Bay to Zamboanga City. We're paddling and Tiririt is our only source of power traveling at hardly 3 NM/hour. Hope to reach Vitaly Pt before dark. Tomorrow Zamboanga City 40 NM away.

10:16 PM - 30 April 2010
We're sailing towards Sangali, Zamboanga del Sur after I abandon the plan to drop anchor at 7 PM near Vitaly Pt. border of Zamboanga del Sur and Sibugay Province for security reason. Crew fell uneasy of the place and tough day for all. Since leaving Olutanga there's no favorable wind, worse whatever wind its southwest or Habagat. We paddled our way crossing part of Moro Gulf in an oily, and glassy sea from 8 AM - 3 PM until winds pick up at 3 PM. The moon has come out at 9 PM, skies clear and full of star plus luckily wind is blowing favorably northwest. Hope to reach safely Coast Guard station in Sangali 100kms from Olutanga at 2 AM, May 1, 2010.
