Departing Caburan Cove (April 7, 2010)

By: Arturo Valdez

April 7, 2010 - 2:00 AM
Weather this morning is not good - raining, windy and seas rough. We'll wait for skies to clear before waking up the crew to prepare for departure at 3 AM. Departure most likely will be delayed.

April 7, 2010 - 6:30 AM
Finally departed Caburan Cove, JAS for Malita 60 kms away. We hope to reach Cape of San Agustin 40 kms away and be protected by land mass of Davao Oriental especially by the waves from the east hitting us at starboard. Again wind is 'Norte' and waves is from the east. The rain clouds slowly dissipates as we move northward. We prayed that this stretch is more hospitable than yesterday.

An hour away from Caburan, a giant rainbow appeared at our portside. The rainbow was a sign from God of promise, hope and fair weather. Except for some scattered rain showers, we're now inside Davao Gulf in a much better sea condition than the previous days.
