City of Maasin, Southern Leyte

The dock was filled with
people when we dropped anchor. The seaport is quite exposed but we managed to
position our anchorage at the western side of the public market hoping it can
provide shelter if the weather deteriorates. I am quite concerned with an LPA
still developing in the Pacific which most likely will have northeastern
Mindanao and Visayas along its travel path, a traditional trajectory of
tropical cyclones this late of the year.
We had our usual activities while on land – courtesy call to the officials of Maasin and Southern Leyte, symposium with the youths (Saturday Nov 21) and visit to tree-farm projects initiated by Cong. Oging Mercado of Southern Leyte. I met the incumbent Congressman when he briefly worked as Assistant Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC 2004-05)
The stop-over at Maasin also gave an opportunity for PCG Rey Godoy to spend quality time with his 3-kids in Maasin. The kids were teary-eyed when we lift anchor in the early morning of Sunday Nov. 22 for our next destination.
